Bobby’s Hospice is our community’s 10-bed palliative care facility. Every day our team of expert healthcare professionals and trained volunteers provide 24-hour quality care to people in the final weeks and months of life and help families to cope with the loss of a loved one.
Personal Support Workers (PSW)
Hospice is seeking casual PSWs to cover for vacation and sick time for the permanent staff.
Applicants should have their PSW certification and ideally experience in palliative care.
Qualifications
- Mature, responsible individuals with expertise in palliative care nursing and patient food services.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of clinical and non-clinical personnel with a warm, compassionate and caring attitude
- Ability to handle difficult situations in a caring, empathetic and consistent manner
- Positive attitude and a “customer-driven” approach to delivering quality care and building positive community relations
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; able to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks
- Able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and reach freely; able to assist patients with standing, walking, sitting and rolling in bed
- Able to read and interpret technical instructions related to client care.
- Able to visually and auditorially observe and assess patients.
- A positive attitude and a “customer-driven” approach to the delivery of care and to building positive community and team relations.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and maintain confidentiality.
- A strong desire to support the work of Hospice Greater Saint John and become a dedicated staff team member.
- A police check is required.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN’s)
Hospice is seeking casual LPN’s to work 12-hour shifts to cover vacation and sick leave for the permanent staff.
LPN applicants must have a current registration with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses. Palliative care training and/or experience would be considered an asset.
Qualifications
- Experience and interest in palliative care and effective clinical competency.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of clinical and non-clinical personnel with a warm, compassionate and caring attitude and a strong commitment to teamwork.
- Ability to handle difficult situations in a caring and empathetic manner with good judgement.
- Positive attitude and a “customer-driven” approach to delivering quality care and building positive community relations.
- Ability to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks in an organized, efficient and flexible manner.
- Comfortable with change as needed to enhance care and organizational effectiveness.
- Able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and reach freely; able to assist patients with standing,
walking, sitting and rolling in bed. - Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A strong desire to support the work of Bobby’s Hospice and become a dedicated staff team member.
- A police check is required.
